A COTEBROOK pub has featured in the Good Food Guide for the second year running.

Directors of The Fox and Barrel, on Foxbank, Richard Cotterill and Gary Kidd said they were delighted to once again have made it into the top restaurant guide.

The traditional pub with restaurant features alongside Michelin starred establishments such as Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck.

Gary said: “There are only 1,200 places from throughout the country listed in the book, and nine of them are in Cheshire. So to be in it is a real achievement.

“What makes this special is that it is a completely independent award, nobody pays to get in this book, so we know we have done well.”

Gary added: “We don’t know when the guide inspectors come round. We sometimes have a hunch but never know for sure. So we were very pleased when we got the letter to tell us we had been included.

“I think it is our friendly atmosphere and that we serve good quality food but are still very much a traditional pub.”

The Good Food Guide 2011 is in the shops now.
