From its retail store on Sovereign Way, off Sealand Road, Reviive Chester offers discounted second hand furniture and reconditioned white goods.

Last year it was able to save almost 200 tonnes of furniture from going into landfill through its free collection service of donated items that are resold or refurbished if necessary and sold at affordable prices back into the community.

The company employs a furniture design graduate who looks at furniture that may have lost its appeal and up-cycles it, or reconfigures it producing original pieces with a contemporary twist.

The Chester store has recently taken delivery of some new coffee tables and stools that have been hand crafted in this way. The coffee tables were inspired by washed pebbles and the smooth layered rock that appeared in layers of stone through erosion.

They were made from a selection of reused woods. The tops are a mixture of oak, oroco and pine, while the legs and frame are made from recycled beech – each piece is unique.

The buttressed joint stools retain the qualities of recycled wood in that there are traces of the wood’s original use to be found. For example, scratched underside markings are evidence of its lineage being made from recycled former school furniture.
