Commonhall St Social has opened its doors with a new-fangled interior.

The bar, formerly known as The Weighing Room and previously known as The Pelican before that, has relaunched and will now be open from Monday to Sunday.

Just before undergoing its latest revamp the bar, which is owned by Chester Race Company, had only been open from Thursday to Saturday.

During the week, Commonhall will be serving winter-warming dishes such as autumn stew with pork medallions and Cheshire chorizo, served with spiced dumplings, roast pumpkin, apples and greens with a loaf of crusty bread.

Sundays will feature well-known favourites such as roast rib of Cheshire beef, duck fat roasties, Yorkshire puds and vegetables followed by spiced plum crumble with custard.

On the drinks front, Commonhall St Social features its own Little Yellow God, created with Wrexham-based microbrewery, The Big Hand Brewery. The bar will be holding pop-up ale tasting evenings in the coming months.

Cocktail extraordinaire Susie Wong, seen recently at the European cocktail championships at the London Playboy Club, has designed a unique cocktail menu for the bar.

‘The Wonderful World of Susie Wong’ includes classic spirits animated with unique and quirky ingredients.

Susie will be making guest appearances behind the bar.
