Law firm Knights LLP has announced ambitions to double the head count and turnover of the Chester office in the next 12 months and become a top 100 law firm by 2015.

High-profile entrepreneur and former Dragons’ Den investor James Caan set out the long-term plan for the firm at a VIP launch event, which celebrated Knights’ arrival into Chester following the acquisition of the Chester office of international law firm, Hill Dickinson.

Speaking from the 1539 restaurant at Chester Racecourse on Tuesday, James announced Knights’ strong intention to grow the Chester office, further providing Chester businesses and the local community with a leading commercial law firm and access to quality, city expertise without having to gravitate to Manchester or Liverpool.

During his address, James signalled his excitement about the future for Knights, saying his one regret about his involvement was that he ‘didn’t buy a bigger share in the firm’.

He added: “Investment in Chester highlights Knights’ dedication to play a key role in the local business community ensuring business and jobs remain in the area.”

This is the first acquisition Knights has made following the private equity investment it received from James Caan’s private equity firm Hamilton Bradshaw in June 2012.
