BUSINESS owners from across the region can get expert advice on managing their employees at a free event in Chester.

The breakfast seminar – called ‘Top HR tips for growing businesses – is being hosted by ClearSky HR and will take place at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel & Spa in Hoole on Friday, March 1.

Juliet Byrne, legal adviser at ClearSky HR and a specialist in employment law, will deliver a presentation offering advice on a range of HR issues.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions afterwards.

Topics will include:

How to create robust and legally compliant employment documentation.

How to minimise and manage sickness absence.

How to avoid problems with annual leave and holiday pay.

How to handle an under-performing member of staff.

Juliet said: “The seminar will offer owners and directors at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Chester and Flintshire area some practical guidance on thorny HR and employment issues.

“Business owners are naturally focused on growing their business and often don’t have the time, resources or expertise to deal with complex HR issues.

“However, with the average cost of defending a tribunal claim standing at £4,000, we want to offer some pointers to ensure the region’s firms don’t fall foul of employment law.”

Warrington-based ClearSky HR, part of the Optionis Group, provides SMEs with expert HR support and advice from CIPD-qualified consultants.

The seminar starts at 8am with registration and refreshments, and will finish at 10am. There is no charge for the event, but early booking is recommended as places are limited.
