A WOMAN with a way with words has caught the eye of a top businessman.

Fiona Talbot of Chester-based TQI Word Power Skills tweeted Theo Paphitis, a ‘dragon’ from the TV series Dragons’ Den about the importance of word skills.

Paphitis invites small businesses to tweet him @TheoPaphitis and describe their business, using the #SBS (Small Business Sunday) hashtag.

Fiona’s tweet: “Size doesn’t matter. Getting your messages understood does. Word power skills help all” was picked up by the entrepreneur in week two of his initiative, which runs 5-7.30pm.

Each week he reviews and chooses his favourite six who are then re-tweeted to his 230,000 plus followers, giving their business positive publicity.

Theo congratulated winners at a convention in Birmingham just before Easter where he launched his new #SBS website (www.theopaphitissbs.com) to bring winners together in an online forum.

Fiona said: “The buzz at the event was phenomenal. Theo was an inspiration to us all, recognising as he does that small businesses are the lifeblood of the economy. He identifies with our passion, as we do with his!”

The added publicity has been invaluable for business writing, plain English consultant and cyber-editor Fiona. With training budgets slashed thorought the recession, Fiona finds she’s being asked to do more and more cyber-editing and executive mentoring, so that businesses project a professional corporate image via e-mails, slides, blogs, social media etc.

Her internationally-successful Better Business English book series is on sale in WH Smith and Waterstones in Chester and her new book on Global Business English for the digital age is out later this year.
