A CITY FINANCE group celebrated its 10th anniversary around a near £1bn success story.

Around 150 employees of The Funding Corporation based on Chester Business Park marked the company's 10th birthday with a glittering Venetian masked ball at a top city hotel.

The motor finance business, said it wanted to offer the most memorable “thank you” possible to staff who had helped built its success.

They included employees of the firm's retail division, ACF Car Finance Ltd, which operates used car showrooms across the UK.

Chester's Crowne Plaza hotel was the venue for the celebrations which included a four-course Italian banquet with wines and night-long live music and entertainment.

Adding extra elegance to the event were colourful Venetian eye-masks provided to guests as they arrived for Italian-inspired cocktails at the start of the evening.

In a welcoming address to guests, managing director David Challinor said that team work was the underlying factor of the company's success.

In the last 10 years, he said, The Funding Corporation had loaned almost £1billion to private individuals.

Many had previously been refused credit by banks and other high street lenders.

Mr Challinor thanked staff for providing an “exceptional” standard of service which was highly valued by customers.

Surveys had found that over 96% would recommend the company to others.

Earlier this year the Funding Corporation was recognmised as one of Britain's Most Responsible Lender in a finance industry business award scheme.
