Staff working for Aldi in the Cheshire area were invited to a Chester hotel to share the company’s news that they are the first-ever official supermarket partner of Team GB ahead of the next Olympic games in Rio.

Workers were invited to Chester’s Craxton Wood Hotel for an exclusive event with Olympic bronze medallist gymnast Beth Tweddle and cyclist Jess Varnish.

Represented at the event were staff from across the business, from store staff to the regional managing director.

Aldi’s marketing director Adam Zavalis welcomed staff on the day and offered them an informal opportunity to meet and engage with the former Queen’s School pupil Beth and Jess.

Activities included the chance for Aldi staff to race each other and take on Jess on static bicycles.

As official partner of Team GB, Aldi will be working with the BOA to deliver key initiatives including Get Set, the organisation’s youth engagement programme, and Home-Grown Heroes, an initiative to connect local athletes with their local community.
