A BRANDING maestro has given Cheshire businesses tips on success.

Responsible for brands including Levi Strauss, Audi and Boddingtons, Sir John Hegarty – chairman and worldwide creative director of BBH Global and one of the world’s most famous advertising creatives – dropped into the Abode hotel to support Marketing Cheshire in launching its marketing academy.

Sir John said: “Advertising is a creative industry. By its very nature it will go on evolving.

“I believe this is the most exciting time to be in advertising. Technology has made so much possible. But we have to remember technology is a delivery system, it’s what we do with it that will excite people.

“I’m delighted to be in Chester to share my experiences with local businesspeople.”

Barrie Kelly, director of marketing at Marketing Cheshire, said: “A key aim of the academy is to help raise standards in marketing throughout Cheshire and Warrington, so it only seems appropriate that we have one of the world’s most famous advertising creatives in town to help us.

“It’s a well-known fact companies who continue to invest in marketing will win new business and boost their profits. The first of its kind in Cheshire, the academy will clearly position all involved as a centre of excellence in all things marketing.”

A series of bite-size masterclasses covering more than 10 core disciplines, including planning, selling, strategy, social media, e marketing and PR, will be delivered by qualified marketing specialists.

The academy will be held at various venues across Cheshire and Warrington, including West Cheshire College in Ellesmere Port.

Members of Marketing Cheshire can book half-day sessions for the early bird price of £99, £149 for non-members.
