MORE than 160 adult learners have celebrated their achievements at the Adult Learning Awards held at Ellesmere Port Civic Hall.

The awards, organised by West Cheshire College, recognised those qualifications gained by adults studying courses at primary schools and children’s centres in the area.

In partnership with the Education Improvement Partnership (EIP) and Cheshire West and Chester Council, learners completed courses in subjects such as Numeracy and Literacy, World Skills, Introduction to Childcare, Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools and Introduction to Access.

Sharon Tinn of West Cheshire College said: “As a college we find it extremely important to encourage and promote adult learning within the local community by delivering and supporting a variety of programmes.

“Many of our learners start off with introductory courses in accessible subjects like nursery rhyme, story bags, creative crafts or pottery and once they gain more confidence often go on to further education or qualify for a new career or position.”

“We are always proud to highlight the fantastic achievements of our learners at the annual Adult Learning Awards.”
