Students at Blacon High have scored a hat trick after the school achieved their best GCSE results for the third year running.

And with at least 83% of the Year 11 pupils achieving a minimum of  five A*-C grades, and 49% gaining five of the top grades including English and maths, the staff and students at the school are celebrating their most successful year yet.

Headteacher Sue Yates praised the hard work of the staff, students, governors and members of the community, who she praised for giving the school its ‘relentless desire to improve’.

“At every marker, our results have increased significantly and this is a testimony to the hard work and unswerving commitment of our staff, students, governors and community,” she said. 

“The quality of education across theBlacon community from all the partner primary schools right up to our Year 11 is excellent and these results show our relentless desire to continually improve.”

The highest achiever on the day was Elliot Pye, who recieved eight A* and 1A.

Other outstanding results included: Layton Spencer ( 4A* 2A 2B 2C), Lauren Williams (1 A*  4 A 4B), Zoe Elson (2 A* 6A 1B)  and Jordan Evans (2 A* 4A 1B 1C).

“The future is very bright for this school and with a new build planned the next few years will be exciting and inspirational,” added Mrs Yates.
