A male driver has been taken to hospital by air ambulance following an accident on a country road near Chester.

One car, a light blue BMW, is believed to have been involved in the collision on the Aldford Road, between Huntington and Aldford, which happened about 3.10pm today (Sunday, February 22).

The air ambulance took the casualty, believed to be aged about 40, from the scene about 4.15pm. He was flown to Aintree Hospital as a precaution although his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

Police closed the road at both ends while carrying out their investigation. Fire and road ambulance crews were in attendance. A recovery truck was sent to the scene.

Two fire engines were sent from Chester and firefighters cut the driver out of his car by removing the roof.

Cheshire Police tweeted at 3.39pm: “Road Closure* - RTC on the B5130 Aldford Road near Huntington, Chester has forced a road closure – please avoid the area.”
