Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall has been enjoying the summer weather since arriving in Liverpool for filming.

On Sunday, the actress tweeted a picture to her 200,000 followers of her visiting Antony Gormley’s Another Place at Crosby beach.

The actress, who was born in Mossley Hill, is in Liverpool to film a new BBC One Agatha Christie thriller, The Witness For The Prosecution.

Toby Jones and Andrea Riseborough also star in the two-part drama, which is set in 1920s London.

It follows the brutal murder of glamorous Emily French, played by Cattrall. All evidence points to Leonard Vole (Billy Howle), who has been left the heiress’s enormous fortune.

Last Christmas, the BBC’s adaptation of Christies’s And Then There Were None, was a huge hit, with ratings of more than eight million.

Kim told her Twitter followers: "Filming starts 2day. Wish us luck or as @agathachristie would have wanted 'a BLOODY good time'."

Cattrall was born in Liverpool before her family migrated to Canada when she was a baby. The actress still has close ties to the city and recently urged the council to re-think its plans to replace the former Futurist Cinema with new shops and apartments.

She tweeted: “What next? Stop! Stop destroying our city’s history.”

She later added: “Renovate AND regenerate. Architecture and its preservation preserve the history, uniqueness and beauty of any city.”
