An award winning photographer and film maker has been inspired by his home town, Chester, to create a four minute short-film based in the city centre.

A Great Day starts a 5am on a beautiful weekend morning. It then goes on to show the city waking up as businesses open and people start to walk the streets.

The film follows through the whole morning with a montage of images showing the best of Chester city centre and the people who live and work there including Chester Cathedral, Chester Races, the town crier and all the varied shops and cafés on Eastgate Street and Bridge Street.

This non-commissioned piece was created by Chester-based photographer Ian Southerin. His company, Location Photography, have recently started photography classes based in and around the city which he describes as: "A safe place to discover and learn everything about taking great photographs.

"Some people may have never switched their camera on, others may want to learn about hyper-focal distances, whatever your skill base we will aim to increase it."

Ian's work has previously been featured in The Chronicle with his short film Searching For Something I Do Not Know , based around the love-locks on the Queen's Suspension Bridge, which inspired many readers to tell us their 'love-lock' stories or add more of their own to the bridge.
