If you enjoy seeing old photographs of Chester but can’t always get to visit the city’s History & Heritage Centre for its many exhibitions during the week, then you’re in luck.

The centre, at St Michael’s Church on Bridge Street Row, is now opening on the first Saturday in every month from 12-4pm, starting on April 5 (in September it will be the second Saturday due to Heritage Open Days).

Elaine Pierce-Jones from the centre said: “It will be a chance for all those people who would like to see our exhibitions and look through thousands of photographs but can’t get here Monday-Friday.

“We will also have members of the Cheshire Family History group here who will help with research,” she added.”

One of the exhibitions on show at the moment is Every Picture Tells a Story, which depicts Chester people from all different walks of life.
