Chester Rows have been the subject of speculation for centuries.

One of the jewels in the crown of our beautiful city, they are medieval in origin but nobody actually really knows how and why they came into existence.

Many of us have used them to shelter from the rain, to browse the shops or to while away a few moments and look down on the streets below.

From Monday March 31, an exhibition commemorating the rows will begin at Chester’s History and Heritage Museum.
