Malpas and Whitchurch Slimming World groups and their members joined forces at the weekend to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Michelle Underwood, who runs the Malpas group, joined up with Tina Hayward and other members for the Race for Life.

The event was hosted by Michelle and Tina, who aimed to raise awareness of cancer and also the link between lifestyle and the prevention of the disease through a healthy balance of correct diet and exercise.

The day was a huge success and the group managed to raise about £1,000 which will go to Cancer Research UK and aid many different causes.

Michelle said: “Members at Slimming World were more than happy to get involved for such a worthwhile cause, especially since everybody will know someone who has been affected by the disease in one form or another.

“It’s great to know that Slimming World supports such a worthy charity and it just goes to show what a difference a few like-minded people can do when they get together.”

Michelle is the consultant at Malpas Slimming World which meets on Tuesdays at Malpas Young Person’s Centre from 5.30-7.30pm.
