This is the gut-churning moment a reckless Mini Cooper driver narrowly avoids hitting a taxi as it overtook other cars on the A5104 in Saltney.

The terrifying near-miss was captured on another motorist's dashcam as he made his way along the single carriageway road, which has a speed limit of 50mph, on Friday night (December 16).

The person behind the wheel of the Mini Cooper appears from nowhere after seemingly spotting an opportunity to overtake at least two other vehicles and goes for it, without taking into account the very real possibility of a car joining at a junction with a side-road – which is exactly what happens.

To get out of the taxi's way, the Mini swerves left in another near-miss with one of the cars it was overtaking.

The horrified driver who shared his dashcam footage but wishes to remain anonymous told The Chronicle: "I was travelling around 45mph in a 50 and this black Mini flew past me, narrowly missing the unsuspecting taxi driver pulling out.

"What's worse is I spotted them in the Morrisons petrol station stopping for petrol further down the road. Not even going anywhere. Completely pointless and dangerous!"
