RUNNERS took to the road for the second Tilston 10k race at the weekend.

It was a huge success last year, so much so that the event has now become an annual event in the village.

There were 89 runners taking part – twice as many as last year –  with  several runners from Tilston as well as runners from the surrounding areas.

The race started at St Mary’s Church, Tilston, following a route round Chorlton Lane and finishing on Tilston Playing Field.

The event was organised by Gail Graham and Steve Farmer but could not have been staged without the help of an enormous number of volunteers.

These included Tilston Playing Field Association who organised the refreshments, the people who did the entry logging in, the stewards who did an excellent job of monitoring the run as well as giving encouragement to the runners, St John’s Ambulance who provided the medical cover with two officers following the race on St John’s Mountain Bikes, volunteers doing the individual times, handing out the medals, taking pictures, putting up the bunting, the finishing banners and lots more.

Thank you also to Roy Wynne, this year’s Tilston Lord Mayor for handing out the medals and cups.

Huge thanks to the people and companies who sponsored various parts of the Tilston 10K 2013 race.

Thanks to Shaun Jones, Tilston Village Store who provided finisher’s medals for all; Steve Farmer of i7 Technologies Ltd for the Banner & ‘everything connected; Steve Oulton of Town & Country Driveways Ltd and Dave Roberts of D.A Roberts Fuels both for banners and Brian Gresty of Whitchurch Sports for place medals.

Gail Graham of  The Paddock B&B provided bottled water and Charles Blake of Blue loos supplied toilets. Thanks to Angela, The Co-operative, Malpas, Angie, Sainsbury’s, Whitchurch, Helen, Tesco, Whitchurch and Joanna, Londis, Malpas who donated energy bars and jelly babieS. Finally organisers would like to thank Sport Cheshire for refreshments and field preparation.
