There's confusion for motorists this evening because of congestion relating to accident recovery work which had thought to have been completed.

The collision involving two cars occurred about 4.40pm today (Tuesday November 3) on the exit slip road of the westbound M56 at junction 15, affecting northbound M53 traffic.

It was understood the motorway had been cleared shortly afterwards but about 7.45pm it was reported the exit slip road was again closed to allow recovery work following the accident that resulted in a car on the wrong side of the safety barrier.

BBC Travel describe the incident as 'severe' in terms of severity.
