A primary school’s footie teams were over the moon with a tremendous treble.

The teams at Woodlands Primary School on Eddisbury Road, Whitby made it a clean sweep in the 2015/16 Everton Mini Kickers football competitions.

Woodlands’ Years 4, 5 and 6 teams won each of their age group competitions, defeating 24 other schools in the process.

They did this without conceding a single goal and now go through to represent Cheshire in the north west finals being held at the Everton Football Academy in April.

The school says staff at Woodlands in Ellesmere Port value physical education and school sport ‘extremely highly’ and put a lot of time and effort in to developing sporting excellence in both physical education lessons and extra-curricular sporting activities.

They are extremely proud of their pupils’ success and said: “This is a fantastic achievement by any standards.”

After their faultless display so far, Woodlands is confident that their teams will give a good account of themselves in the finals.

With the pressure on for them to do well, their aim remains to achieve their ‘personal best’ rather than being ‘the best’.
