A police officer ended up being threatened with a chainsaw after being called to deal with an assault in Neston.

Officers were responding to reports of a disturbance on Park Street at about 9.15pm last night (Sunday June 22) where they discovered a man with minor injuries.

Shortly after their arrival, another man tried to assault the injured man, and threatened one of the officers with a chainsaw.

Both the injured man and the officer were able to move to a place of safety and the man fled the scene in a vehicle.
