Northwich’s newest leisure and entertainment facility Memorial Court has been awarded a first class rating by a disability website endorsed by world renowned physicist Stephen Hawking.

Memorial Court, which opened last summer was given the highest five star award by Euan’s Guide – an independent online review website for those with disabilities, scoring especially highly for its facilities and friendly and informative staff.

The website which was established by 40-year-old Euan MacDonald from Scotland, who suffers from motor neurone disease, has the support of Stephen Hawking and author JK Rowling and publishes reviews of public access facilities, including entertainment and sports complexes, from the perspective of disabled users.

On the website the centre is described as friendly and welcoming with staff that are always happy to give information about fitness classes and are very informative about the equipment and its purpose.

Brio Leisure Managing Director Elly McFahn said: “We were absolutely thrilled to hear that we had been so highly rated by the reviewer. “As a business, we listen to all feedback and use it to continually look at ways we can improve facilities for all. We know for instance that our audio systems at the Memorial Court do not yet fulfill the needs of those with hearing difficulties, so this is one area we are addressing.

“We strive to ensure that all members of the community can enjoy the facilities provided at Brio centres and recognition such as this will encourage all of the team to continue to provide first class service,” she added.
