CHESHIRE West and Chester Council continues the crackdown on dog fouling by holding a roadshow today.
The Anti-Dog Fouling Roadshow takes place in a notorious dog mess hotspot, Allington Place in Handbridge, from 7.30am to 1pm. Officers will be there to give advice and issue free waste bags.
Residents in the area are concerned that fouling is a big problem and could spoil the council’s recent landscaping and play area improvements, due for completion.
Despite efforts from many owners to pick up after pets, there are many who leave the streets, parks and countryside of West Cheshire littered with dog faeces.
A recent Keep Britain Tidy campaign highlighted the dangers of fouling, after a two-year-old girl lost partial sight in her left eye after falling in dog mess.
Cheshire West and Chester council hopes the roadshow will bring together officers from Streetscene, Community Safety Wardens and the dog warden service, to spread the message that dog fouling is another form of anti-social behaviour.
A spokesman for Streetscene said: “Our campaign is about being a responsible dog owner and it’s important we keep our streets and parks clean and safe places for people, particularly children, to enjoy.”
