STUDENTS in Chester are being asked to take small steps and make a big difference by recycling more of their household waste.
Cheshire West and Chester launched Worried About Waste to encourage students to take part in the kerbside collection recycling scheme.
As part of the campaign the council has been getting down to grass roots, by knocking on doors in the city’s College Ward, to discuss with residents the importance of recycling.
Students were also given magnetic collection calendars and blue and white recycling bags.
A spokesman for Cheshire West and Chester Council said: “A significant number of students are environmentally aware and are keen to be green. However, they need more information so that they know what materials can be recycled and when recycling collections take place.
“Mobile phone screen cleaners were also distributed which displayed information about the text messaging service on offer from Cheshire West and Chester to remind students to put out their recycling on their collection day.”
