GOBBLEDEEBOOK CHILDREN’S LITERATURE FESTIVAL 2012 - PROGRAMME OF EVENTS

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 23

11.30-1pm: Becky Adams Workshop – Incy Wincy Books - textile artist Becky Adams delights in making books and very small things. Join her in creating tiny books that can hide inside an empty match box. Your miniature book will tell the tale of your chosen little creature. Tickets £2.

2-4pm: Paul Kieve Workshop - Hocus Pocus - Paul Kieve is a Gold Star member of the Inner Magic Circle and has even supervised the sawing in half of Simon Cowell. Paul is the only illusionist to have been a physical magic consultant and personal tutor to Daniel Radcliffe in the Harry Potter films. Age range 7+. Tickets £4.

5-6pm: Martita Phillips - The Dream Dealer - the author of the newly released children’s book will be talking about her work and signing copies of the fantasy novel aimed at children aged 9+. Tickets £2.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 24

12.30-1.15pm: Holly Webb - My Naughty Little Puppy - meet the queen of the cute animal in peril genre and author of Lost in the Snow and Alfie All Alone, to name but a few. Meet her most recent character Rascal, the naughtiest puppy in town. Tickets £2.

2.30-3.30pm: Daniel Morden and Oliver Wilson-Dickson - Monster! - This duo thrilled Gobbledeebook audiences last year with their unique blend of music, story and comedy. They’re back with a new programme of long-forgotten traditional tales. Age range 7+. Tickets £2 children, adults free.

4.30-5.15pm: Steve Hartley - Danny Baker Record Breaker - Join author Steve Hartley for an hilarious show featuring readings from his books, singing, acting, impressions of sea creatures and an Armpit Orchestra. Age range 7-10. Tickets £2.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 25

10.30-11.15am: Tracey Corderoy - Brave Little Penguin - the children’s author will be reading from her new book introducing brave little Plip, the roly-poly penguin who will melt your heart. Age range 5-7. Tickets £2.

2-3pm: Daniel Morden - The Adventures of Odysseus - One of the UK’s leading storytellers tells tales from Odysseus’ long voyage home after the Trojan War. Expect encounters with witches, ghosts and the dreaded Cyclops. Age range 7+. Tickets £2 per child, adults free.

4-5pm: Cat Weatherill - Making Magic - Cat is a big time storyteller who also writes best selling children’s novels. In her world, old men turn into trees, heroes fly without wings and werewolves haunt dark forests. Action and amazing energy are guaranteed with this globetrotting storyteller. Age range 8-11. Tickets £2.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 26

10.30-11.30am: Jeanne Willis - Bogs, Bottoms and Butterflies - Jeanne Willis - the children’s author reads from her new book The Bog Baby. Age range 5-8. Tickets £2.

1.30-3.30pm: Jim Eldridge - Create Your Own Characters and Story - the author of the Disgusting Dave books works in a fun-filled way to create a story and characters. As the audience you will make the decisions about who the characters are and what happens. Age range 8-11. Tickets £2.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27

2-3pm: John Hegley - Alphaboat - Hegley’s popular interactive family show will enchant children and adults, interspersing rhyming expertise with simple ditties. Age range 5+. Tickets £4.

5-6pm: John Hegley - Workshop for Children and Parents - following his performance in Alphaboat, this is a workshop for children and adults to enjoy together. Places limited. Age range 6+. Tickets £2.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28

10.30-11.30am: Harriet Goodwin - Gravenhunger - Harriet will be reading from and talking about her new book. Age range 8+. Tickets £2.

1.30-2.30pm: Harriet Goodwin - The Boy Who Fell Down Exit 43 - Have you ever had a dream so vivid you couldn’t get it out of your head? That is what happened to Harriet Goodwin as she wrote this story which was shortlisted for a Blue Peter Book Award. Age range 8-11. Tickets £2.

5-6pm: Jon Mayhew - Riddles and Demons - join the author of award-winning gothic horror novel Mortlock and The Demon Collector for an evening of chilling tales, crazy games, mind-bending riddles and more. Age range 9+. Tickets £2.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29

10.30-11.30am: Tina McNaughton & Christina Butler - One Christmas Night - Christmas is near but Little Hedgehog has forgotten to get presents for his friends and his house isn’t sparkly and Christmassy at all. So he sets off into the forest to find gifts. Age range 5-7. Tickets £2.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30

10.30am-1pm: Caroline Gregson - Bird Making Workshop - adult accompaniment required - big fat birds with short legs, little delicate birds with long legs and more. Join willow sculptor Caroline Gregson for a fun morning making your own characterful bird from willow. Age range 6+. Tickets £2.

2-3pm: Peut-Etre Theatre presents Draw Me A Bird - a new music and dance theatre piece for children and their grown-ups about a little bird in a big city. An uplifting story about making music, finding a friend and learning how to fly. Age range 5-7. Tickets £4.
