LIVERPOOL ONE: Until Wednesday, August 5 – Summer Events – Monday a build a bear teddy bears’ picnic, Tuesday a juggling and balloon modelling work shop and on Wednesday a batala drumming workshop, all events are from 12-3pm.

TATTON PARK: On Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, Tatton Park Picnic Concerts see the return of the world-famous Hallé orchestra, followed by spectacular fireworks and on Sunday you will be taken back to the 80s with performances from 80s icons The Human League, Belinda Carlisle, ABC, Go West and Heaven 17.

CHESTER: Chester and District Fuchsia Society holds its 19th annual show at St Mary’s Centre, St Mary’s Hill, Chester. Featuring fuchsias for sale and a tombola stall, the event starts at noon and finishes at 5pm. Entry is £1 for adults and children go free.

CHESTER: Philip Rushforth plays music by Alcock, Langlais, Bach and Elgar, in his lunchtime organ recital in Chester Cathedral at 1.10pm. Retiring collection.

SATURDAY

HOLT: Music and Coffee in St Chad's Church, Holt, from 10.30am until noon, featuring young local instrumentalists, singers and organists. Retiring collection for the organ fund.

MONDAY

WREXHAM: The last in the summer series of Wednesdays-at-12.30 concerts in St. Giles' Church, Wrexham, will feature organist and pianist Bob Jones, organist at St Francis church, Chester. Retiring collection. Lunches available from noon

TUESDAY

CHESTER: John Ellis, organist at St Mary the Virgin, Bury, plays music by Whitlock, Bach, Brahms, Wolstenhome, Handel, Smart and one of his own compositions, in his lunchtime Tuesdays-at-One organ recital in St Werburgh's Church, Grosvenor Park Road, Chester. Retiring collection.

WEDNESDAY

ST ASAPH: John Hosking (assistant organist) gives this month's organ recital in St Asaph Cathedral at 7.30pm. Admission £4 including programme and refreshment.

THURSDAY

CHESTER: Roger Fisher performs the lunchtime organ recital in Chester Cathedral at 1.10pm. Retiring collection.

EXHIBITIONS

BODELWYDDAN: From August 1 until October – Bodelwyddan Castle will be showcasing an inspirational collection of images, from North Wales photographers as it displays the 19th annual exhibition of the North Wales Photographic Society. The exhibition is open every day during August and every day except Friday during September and October from 10.30–5.00pm.

CHESTER: Until September 30 – Paintings by Rembrandt’s Workshop and Stubbs, lent by the Duke of Westminster to the Grosvenor Museum Art Gallery.

CHESTER: Until September 6 – Shadows: Colour in the Absence of Light – Pamela Field and Nicky Ferguson have worked together for five years, producing exhibitions and community workshops throughout Cheshire. For this exhibition in the Grosvenor Museum Gallery Two, they have studied shadows and created different works from this theme.

CHESTER: Until July 30 – Chester in Focus: 100 Years in Photographs from the 1860s to the 1960s – a photographic journey along the main streets of Chester, showing how the city has changed and developed during the age of photography, at Chester History and Heritage, St Michael’s Church.

FRODSHAM: Until August 3 – The Frodsham Story 1209-2009 – a pictorial history of 2000 years of development, photographs of present day Frodsham and images of local personalities form this fascinating exhibition at Castle Park Arts Centre. Ring 01928 735832.

LIVERPOOL: Until August 31 – Sound and Vision – atmospheric images of Liverpool’s youthful and exhilarating post-punk era feature in a new exhibition by photographer Francesco Mellina at the National Conservation Centre in Whitechapel. Ring 0151 478 4999.

RUNCORN: Until August 2 – My Giant Colouring Book by Jake and Dinos Chapman – the brothers came to prominence as part of the YBA (Young British Artists) movement of the 1990s, and featured in the Royal Academy’s seminal 1997 exhibition, Sensation. This series of etchings sees the artists appropriating join-the-dot drawings from a children’s picture book. It offers a fascinating introduction to the imaginations of two of Britain’s most inventive and subversive artists at The Brindley, High Street.
