Organist Nicholas Martin entertains for the festive season at Llay

CHRISTMAS is coming to Llay early this year as Llay Organ Society stages its Christmas Spectacular festive concert at the Royal British Legion Club on Wednesday, November 28, at 8pm, when popular organist Nicholas Martin takes to the stage.

Nicholas, who started his career at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom playing the mighty Wurlitzer organ, is a firm favourite on the organ society and festival circuit and spent 21 happy years as the resident organist at Turners Musical Merry-go-round in Northampton.

Organisers are promising a suitably festive setting for the concert which will include a selection Christmas favourites as well as songs from the shows, light classical music, marches and everything in between.

Pre-concert entertainment from 7.20pm will be provided by the Rhos Ladies Choir under the direction of Cheryl Vaughan, while Nicholas Martin will take to stage at 8pm.

Doors open at 6.45pm. Tickets are £5 and can be reserved by calling Ron Jones or Beryl Henning on 01978 351475.

The society also meets for a social evening every Monday in the lounge at Llay Royal British Legion where members and guests can play the organ, the society’s new top of the range Tyros 4 keyboard, or simply sit back and listen to a variety of musical styles.

There is also a weekly membership prize, musical quiz and raffle.
