Australian cellist to play Chester Music Society celebrity concert

AUSTRALIAN cellist Pei-Jee Ng will give a recital at the next Chester Music Society Celebrity concert.

Born in Sydney and brought up in Adelaide he was Symphony Australia Young Performer of the Year in 2001 and joined the Royal Northern College of Music in 2003, where he studied with Ralph Kirshbaum. He was selected for representation by Young Concert Artists Trust (YCAT) in 2008 and has toured the USA as a soloist and given recitals at the Purcell Room and the Wigmore Hall in London.

Accompanying Pei-Jee will be Chiao-Ying Chang, a top prize-winner at the Leeds, ARD Munich, AXA Dublin and Taiwan International piano competitions.

She has appeared as soloist with many of the world’s leading orchestras and given recitals at major festivals and venues throughout the UK.

Their programme includes works by Beethoven, Barber, Ginastera and Franck.

The concert is on Wednesday, February 8, at 7.30pm in St Mary’s Centre on St Mary’s Hill. Tickets are £12 from 0151 339 7326 or the Visitor Information Centre, Town Hall Square, Chester.
