IT IS easy for the reviews of 4everevolution, the new album from Roots Manuva, to leave everyone with no doubt as to how important Rodney Smith is to British hip-hop.
Clocking in at just a few seconds under an hour long and consisting of 17 tracks, the album covers every style from ‘wonky reggae’ through pop-funk, street spitting, straight up hip hop, sung ballads and epic death-disco.
A spokesman said: “From the very start we said we thought it was his very best work since Run Come Save Me, turns out everyone else felt the same way.
“We’re now proud to announce Roots Manuva will be touring the UK in 2012, culminating with a London show at The Roundhouse.”
He plays at the HMV Ritz in Manchester tomorrow. Tickets, £15, can be booked on 08448 110 051.
