AFTER sell-out runs at London’s Lyric Hammersmith and Manchester Royal Exchange, the new season at the Liverpool Playhouse opens with Vivienne Franzmann’s award-winning Mogadishu.
The production can be seen from January 30-February 4.
A searing account of the tribulations of modern school life, Franzmann’s debut play – which she has adapted as a radio play for BBC Radio 3 - explores the clash of youth, class, race and justice.
Set in an inner-city school, the play follows the story of a well-intentioned white teacher, who finds herself the victim when caught up in a school fight.
While trying to protect a black student from exclusion, the tables are turned as he convinces his friends to spin a story of lies.
Jackie Clune plays Amanda, the teacher at the centre of the drama. Her stage credits include The Belle’s Stratagem, Mama Mia! and Billy Elliot.
