AN OPERA double bill comes to Venue Cymru in Llandudno next week.
On Wednesday the Co-Opera Company presents Mozart’s fantasy quest opera The Magic Flute, containing some of his most celebrated, beautiful and demanding music.
In a mythical land somewhere between sun and moon, the young prince Tamino is rescued from a savage monster by three mysterious ladies. But can they, or their ruler the Queen of the Night, be trusted? Is Sarastro really as evil as they suggest? And what about the beautiful princess Pamina?
Tamino has a lot to learn – a fanciful story of low comedy and high ideals.
On Thursday Bizet’s blistering, passionate opera Carmen takes to the stage.
It is a thrilling mix of sex and death which outraged its first audience in 1875 but which is now one of the world’s most popular operas – the Habanera, with its sensual rhythms, and the stirring Toreador’s Song.
Tickets are priced £22.50, £20.50 or £16.50. Call the box office on 01492 872000 or visit www.venuecymru.co.uk.
