Banish the January blues for a different kind at Alexander’s in Chester

A WELL-KNOWN British blues duo will be making a highly anticipated return to Chester’s Alexander’s Jazz Theatre Bar today (Thursday).

Banish the January blues for a different kind to hear Paul Jones and Dave Kelly from the acclaimed The Blues Band, entertain with a medley of the acoustic music they have become famous for.

Jones, renowned for his presence in the 60s pop revolution with Manfred Mann, founded The Blues Band with Kelly in 1979 and helped kick-start another boom in Blues music.

The band has now recorded about 17 albums, not counting compilations, and have been a huge name on the blues scene since they started.

Collectively they are arguably the greatest British blues harp and bottle-neck players who have notched up decades of solo hits and compilations with a range of artists, including Tina Turner, Katie Melua and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

A huge success when they last played Alexander’s in 2008, they’re not likely to disappoint in 2012.
