THE latest offerings from award-winning playwright Nicola Schofield will debut at The Lowry next month.
The intriguing double bill, Hope in Boxes and A Light in Every Window is presented by Elysion Productions, hot on the heels of the success of ‘Best Show’ with Dev’s Army at the Not Part Of Festival.
Hope In Boxes tells the tale of two grandchildren sorting through their grandmother’s letters and photos. As the story progresses, the audience is transported back to life during the Second World War, social pressures spanning generations are exposed, and secrets of hidden sexuality are revealed.
A Light In Every Window catapults the audience into a fast and contemporary drama as it details the complex relationships of friends and lovers in the wake of a tragic event. In the emotionally charged play, friends reflect on their carefree Manchester party days and their love lives today.
The cast comprises of a host of talented actors including Manchester-born Lee Joseph, Lewis Marsh, Julie Burrow, Samantha Vaughan and Phil Minns, who was seen on TV screens earlier this year as Rosemary West's solicitor in the controversial ITV drama Appropriate Adult.
Director Gayle Hare described both shows as ‘very strong and exciting’.
“The writing is brilliant and Nicola has doneŠa wonderful job in bringing the characters to life in these two captivating stories,” she added.Š
Hope In Boxes and A Light In Every Window premieres at The Lowry on Thursday January 12 and Friday January 13 before embarking on a North West tour taking in Pavilion Arts Centre, Buxton, Square Chapel, Halifax and Lantern, Liverpool.
