Genesis tribute Face Value return to The Box in Crewe

The UK’s number one tribute to Genesis and Phil Collins make a quick return to The Box in Crewe by popular demand on Saturday.

Face Value play all the biggest hits, recreating the original sound live on stage with a fantastic performance by a full band.

With a setlist that covers four decades of music, no two shows are the same which is why they have built a large, dedicated following.

The band were brought together in 1999 by a mutual love of the former Genesis singer and drummer’s music.

After performing in various cover bands for several years, lead singer John Wilkinson, keyboardist Tony Cole and guitarist Will Smith initially called themselves Not Seriously after Collins’ 1989 album.

Lead singer John became a Genesis fan in 1977 when he first heard A Trick of The Tail. He had been doing demos of his own songs at home, but ultimately wanted to try his hand at singing in a band.

He applied for the job as the frontman in a Genesis-influenced band and enjoyed singing so much that he got together with a friend and formed a covers duo playing Collins’ solo hits with other material.

He said: “People ask me if I have practised hard to sound like Phil. The answer is no, that’s just the way my natural voice is.

“It’s been my dream to be in a band like this. To play Genesis and Phil songs every week, have a good time and be liked by people – well you can imagine what that’s like for a fan.”

Doors open at 8pm and tickets are £10. To book and for further information visit www.theboxcrewe.co.uk.
