Liverpool Playhouse unveil rock ‘n’ roll panto Cinderella

The legendary rock ’n’ roll panto returns to Liverpool but will take over the Playhouse for the first time.

The casting for Cinderella Mop! In The Name of Love will include Rebecca Bainbridge, Carla Freeman, Robert Gilbert, Chris Lindon, Kate Marlais and Griffin Stevens.

They will join regulars Adam Keast, Francis Tucker, Jonny Bower and Sarah Vezmar at the Williamson Square venue from December 3-January 21.

The boys are back in town as audience favourites Adam Keast and Francis Tucker pair up again to bring their unique double act to thrill and soak the crowd in equal measure.

The dynamic duo will be playing Cinders’s scheming ugly sisters, who are determined to keep our heroine locked away mopping the floor.

The rock ’n’ roll panto is always a great night out for all the family. With music, dancing and lots of cheeky laughs, there’s something for everyone.

For the 10th year running, the panto has been written by Sarah Nixon and Mark Chatterton; Mark will also continue in his role as director of the show that has firmly become one of Liverpool’s most beloved institutions.

Poor, beautiful, yet downtrodden Cinderella dreams of finding her Prince Charming while slaving away and tending to her wicked stepmother and her ugly sisters.

Her fortunes are transformed by her fairy godmother and she goes on a right royal knees-up, only for her stagecoach to turn in to a pumpkin – have Cinders’s dreams turned to dust or will her Prince Charming find his bride?

Sarah Vezmar, who has delighted audiences in recent years as Ruby Tuesday and Purdy, is sure to do so again as Cinderella, while Kate Marlais will be casting a magic spell as Poppy Pumpkin.

Liverpool’s Chris Lindon will play Buttons as Rebecca Bainbridge, last seen on the Liverpool stage in 2008’s Mother Goose, weaves a dastardly plot as Cinderella’s wicked stepmother Maud Macbeth; though LIPA-trained actor Robert Gilbert will be trying to come to the rescue as the handsome Prince Charming.

Finally, Carla Freeman and Griffin Stevens join the cast for the first time and Jonny Bower is back wielding his electric guitar to rock ’n’ roll as Hector, Danny Deeny, Tony Tofu and Tiny Tempeh.

The multi-talented cast will sing, dance, entertain and play music and make Cinderella the best rock ’n’ roll ball in town.
