Halton group Split Ends Theatre Company to perform Little Red at The Brindley

HALTON-BASED Split Ends Theatre are getting ready to paint the town red tonight with their biggest performance to date.

Familiar characters from some classic fairytales take to the stage when the troupe performs Little Red – a pantomime version of Little Red Riding Hood, but with a few added Split Ends twists!

A theatre group spokesman said: “Once upon a time there was a girl called Little Red who was sent to her granny’s house to drop off some food. However, everything is not as it seems as, along the way, she encounters the big bad wolf, a demented wicked queen, a fairy godmother and the three little pigs.

“Will she stop the wolf? Foil the queen’s evil plan? And most importantly, will she get to granny’s house in time for tea and to update her Facebook status?”

The show will be the fourth time Split Ends have taken to The Brindley’s main stage, with last year’s pantomime Funkerella performing to a sell-out audience and achieving critical acclaim.

Split Ends head writer Michael Pirks said: “It has been a very busy 2011 for Split Ends and we have a full and busy 2012 ahead of us.

“Little Red is the perfect way to end a successful year.

“We want as many families to come and make as much noise as they want. Cheer the good guys, boo the bad guys and join in as much as you can.

“Little Red is the perfect show for the whole family!”

A Brindley spokesman said: “Little Red is a light-hearted tale accompanied by music from various eras to guarantee an exciting evening for all the family!”

A limited number of tickets are still available for tonight’s 7pm show priced at £8 and £6 for concessions.
