AN AWARD-WINNING actor is heading to The Brindley this winter to perform his adaptation of the classic novel A Christmas Carol.
Working alongside production company Brother Wolf, James Hyland has adapted the well-known Christmas tale and turned it in to a unique one-man show.
James, who began his career by winning The Guardian International Student Drama Award at the Edinburgh Festival, has worked with the likes of The Royal Shakespeare Company, and will be taking on the one-and-only lead role in the performance.
His most recent success saw him recognised for his work as dialogue writer and lead actor on rapper Tinie Tempah’s music video, Disappoint You, which was awarded Best Urban Video at the UK Music Video Awards last Tuesday at the Empire in Leicester Square.
In his Brindley show he will play the part of Jacob Marley, the deceased business partner of the infamous Ebenezer Scrooge. The entire tale will be told from the prospective of Marley, who has been condemned to an eternity of carrying a heavy chain, forged in life.
The character is only able to return to recount the tale of Scrooge, and the path that led to his redemption.
Through Marley’s words, the audience will learn how three spirits opened Scrooge’s eyes and made him realise the true value of love and forgiveness.
A Brindley spokesman said: “The critically-acclaimed theatrical adaptation promises audiences thrills, chills, and excitement this Christmas.”
The show starts at 7.30pm on Thursday, December 15 at the Runcorn venue.
Tickets are priced between £10-£12 and are available from The Brindley’s box office on 0151 907 8360 or online at www.thebrindley.org.uk
