Phoenix Dance Theatre brings production of Declarations to The Brindley in Runcorn

THERE will be a chance to see one of the country’s leading contemporary dance companies when Phoenix Dance Theatre visits The Brindley next month.

The one-night only event on Thursday, November 8, will see the dance company perform their exciting Declarations mixed programme.

The performance features three critically-acclaimed works and the return of a treasured audience favourite.

The evening opens with Warren Adams’s piece The Audacious One, described as ‘a dramatic, tense and gripping work’ inspired by Barack Obama’s landmark speech.

Isira Makuloluwe’s Locked In Vertical sees four dancers wind and unfurl themselves through ever more complex dance in a piece that is described as ‘both technically challenging and visually stunning’.

Philip Taylor’s Haunted Passages is a classic from the company’s repertoire, set in an eerie world that is not quite a dream, organisers called it a ‘spine tingling, atmospheric work’ which is back by popular demand.

The bill finishes with the latest work for Phoenix by renowned choreographer Aletta Collins. Set to an upbeat soundtrack Maybe Yes Maybe, Maybe No, Maybe features a live microphone that allows the dancers to synchronise their bodies and voices to create a unique, funny and heartwarming finale.

A Brindley spokesman said: “This is a must see for anyone who loves dance, physical theatre or simply a breathtaking night out.

“The Stage (magazine) said Declarations is not so much a four-course meal but is, instead, something of a five-star banquet”.

Tickets for the show on Tuesday, November 8, are on sale now, priced £17 and £13 for concessions.

They can be booked at the Brindley box office on 0151 907 8360.
