The Calendar Girls play has become the most successful ever to tour the UK and has taken more at the box office than the original film with ticket sales in excess of £21m.
Award-winning producers David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers have now announced that 2011 will be the final tour before the amateur rights are released in 2012.
As part of the final tour, Calendar Girls is coming to Venue Cymru in Llandudno starring Lynda Bellingham, Debbie Chazen, Camilla Dallerup, Jennifer Ellison, Jan Harvey, Rula Lenska, June Watson and Ruth Madoc with Bruno Langley as Lawrence the photographer and Joe McGann as John.
The show is at Venue Cymru from September 5-10.
A group of ordinary women, members of a very ordinary Yorkshire WI, spark a global phenomenon by persuading one another to pose for a charity calendar with a difference.
Original star of Calendar Girls, Lynda Bellingham, continues to present ITV’s popular afternoon chat show Loose Women. Other credits include the long running series of Oxo television ads and Helen Herriot in All Creatures Great and Small.
Jennifer Ellison’s credits include Chicago and the award winning revival of Boeing Boeing in the West End as well as Meg Giry in the film version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera.
Jan Harvey played Jan Howard in the BBC’s long running Howard’s Way. Other television credits include BBC action series Bugs as well as Babs Woods in Family Affairs.
Rula Lenska joins the cast of Calendar Girls direct from Coronation Street. Debbie Chazen’s recent credits include Annie in the BBC comedy The Smoking Room and a whole host of comic creations in the BBC show Tittybangbang.
Camilla Dallerup is one of the Strictly Come Dancing professionals, who plays Elaine in this production.
Ruth Madoc, best known as Gladys Pugh in Hi-De-Hi, has more recently been seen on our screens as Dafydd’s mother in Little Britain.
Bruno Langley, who played Todd Grimshaw in Coronation Street and Adam Mitchell in Doctor Who, plays Lawrence the photographer. Joe McGann, whose credits include the TV comedy The Upper Hand, plays John.
