Outdoor production of Cranford coming to Erddig in Wrexham

ONE of TV’s biggest successes of recent years, Cranford, is to be performed in the outdoors at Erddig in Wrexham.

The Chapterhouse Theatre Company brings its own adaptation of the book by Elizabeth Gaskell to the National Trust property on Saturday.

Brush off your bustle and fasten your bonnets as you are invited to the sleepy village of Cranford, where a mysterious new arrival is setting hearts aflutter.

At the centre of the village are the outrageously proper spinster sisters – Matty and Deborah Jenkyns – who head an unforgettable collection of misguided womenfolk.

This most traditional tale of splendid snobbery, gossip and social scandal pits lost loves against old friends with sensational results.

The performance starts at 7.30pm and gates open at 6.30pm.

Audience members are invited to take a picnic to enjoy on the lawn in the rose garden before curtain-up.

Tickets are £12 for adults, £8 for children and £35 for a family ticket. Call 01978 355314 for details.
