TIM Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical masterpiece Evita opens at the Liverpool Empire from Monday for one week only.
The hit show returns to the city after its triumphant run as part of the Capital of Culture 2008 programme.
Evita has more than 20 major awards to its credit, including the Oscar-winning film version starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas, and features some of the most iconic songs in musical theatre, and this new production of the hit show truly promises to be a theatrical highlight for 2011.
Evita follows the extraordinary life of Eva Perón, wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Perón, who, from young and ambitious beginnings, gained enormous wealth and power during her ultimate rise to sainthood.
Abigail Jaye will play Eva Perón. Abigail’s musical theatre credits include her role as Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Isobel in Scrooge.
