THE debut album of a Runcorn band who formed following an appeal in the Weekly News has gone on sale.
The Weekly News reported in October last year how guitarist Richey Jones, a former drummer with Runcorn act The Fireflys, and singer Darrell Tinsley were starting a new band, The Sonic Revolvers, but were desperately in need of a bass player and drummer.
Following the article the Runcorn duo were joined by bassist Phil Mealing and drummer Mike Jones.
They recently hosted a launch party at the Runcorn Holiday Inn to mark the release of debut album, Songs for the Revolution.
A collection of indie songs with themes ranging from personal relationships to political upheaval, the full-length LP features 10 tracks of guitar-led rock.
Richey said: “We’re in it to go as far as we can. We want to prove that we can sell records and put on fantastic shows.”
Songs for the Revolution is now available for download on iTunes and Amazon. The band will be playing at Runcorn Carnival on July 9.
