ONE of the highlights of Cheshire’s events calendar, the Chester Folk Festival, returns to the village of Kelsall this bank holiday weekend.
There will be a mix of high octane concerts showcasing some of the biggest names on the scene, together with more informal events such as ceilidhs, dance displays, children’s entertainment and a craft fair.
There will also be a full programme of workshops so everyone can improve their skills or have a go at something completely new.
Amongst the top class acts on the bill are Belshazzar’s Feast. The partnership of Paul Sartin and Paul Hutchinson offers music that is note perfect and subtly nuanced.
Other acts due to perform are Canadian folk trio Finest Kind, singer-songwriter Jez Lowe, Radio Two Folk Award-winning duo Nancy Kerr and James Fagan, Irishman Colum Sands and Welsh outfit Jamie Smith’s Mabon.
Dancers are well catered for too, with a ceilidh, complete with band, each evening.
Day and evening tickets, as well as full weekend tickets are available, from the festival office near the Morris Dancer pub on Chester Road, or in advance by visiting www.chesterfolk.org.uk
