TWO rising stars of the stand up comedy circuit are to perform at the Brindley theatre, Runcorn, next month.
Comedy duo Joe Wilkinson and Gareth Richards are sure to provide a night filled with laughter on Saturday, June 18.
Wilkinson is a critically acclaimed comic, who most recently starred as the wonderfully creepy Dan in the hit BBC Three series Him and Her.
He has also made use of his whimsical and offbeat jokes when appearing on Russell Howard’s Good News, and Never Mind the Buzzcocks.
Since embarking on his stand-up career in 2004, he has performed in comedy clubs up and down the country.
With his lo-fi delivery, shabby stage presence and hilarious self-deprecating material, he is one of the funniest stand ups of the new generation.
‘Song and joke man’ Gareth Richards’s engaging observational comedy, inspired one-liners and mischievously funny songs have also made him an instant hit.
Last year he was nominated at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards for best newcomer, for his show, Gareth Richards: Stand Up Between Songs.
Performing stand up between some funny, poignant and genre-defying songs, his set list includes such future smash-hits as the enigmatic Dave the Fridge, and the revolutionary Third World Girl.
He also provides his own accompaniment on the incredible omnichord – an instrument he has rescued from the 1980s.
The show starts at 8pm.
Tickets cost £10 and are on sale now from the Brindley box office on 0151 907 8360, or online at www.thebrindley.org.uk.
