Highly-rated metal outfit Sworn To Oath finally make their debut at The Box this Friday (May 13).
On the back of rave reviews in the likes of Kerrang! and Metal Hammer, the Stoke-based trio headline a truly heavier experience in Crewe’s alternative music venue.
Having established a decent following in South Cheshire since starting out two years ago, it’s an oddity to explain just why this gig hasn’t happened before.
Their amalgamation of heavy riffs, pulsating grooves, hard-hitting beats and captivating melodies has won over crowds across the UK.
And there’s certainly no nonsense with Dave Leese (vocals/guitar), Tom Shaw (vocals/bass) and Al Junior (drums).
They know exactly where they are at.
“We’re rock metal, plain and simple,” explained Leese.
“We’re no frills, what you see is what you get – we’re loud and we’re heavy but there’s also catchy choruses that get everyone singing.”
Sworn To Oath have been hailed by industry bibles as the ‘UK’s shining unsigned talent’ and ‘best of the new British metal empire’ – no mean feat.
It’s all down to relentless hard work.
“No one is going to watch you if they don’t know who you are,” continued Leese.
“We go all over the UK because we try to be everywhere.
“We don’t just play in Stoke and head off to Manchester once in a while.
“All three of us are on the same page with it, we want to do this for life and make it a job.
“It’s been so far, so good and the first EP got great reviews.”
Having just completed a mammoth UK tour and some 2,500 miles, the trio are preparing to release their second EP Leave You For Dead.
Some of the new material could figure in an explosive set this Friday.
Firm favourites, Skeletal Damage return in one of their final appearances before Download while From Adalia register their first appearance on The Box stage.
Ever-improving young metalists Leave Me A Whisper complete a night packed with heavy riffs.
“I dunno why we haven’t played The Box but we’ve heard a lot about it,” added Lease.
“We played The M Club a few times when that was still going and we know people who are looking forward to us being back in Crewe.
Doors open at 8pm and tickets are £5. For more details visit www.theboxcrewe.co.uk.
