Crewe Amateur Musicals Society to bare all in The Full Monty

Amateur performers in a Crewe dramatics society will be baring all when they strip off for their next production, The Full Monty.

Crewe Amateur Musicals Society will perform the week-long run at the Lyceum Theatre from June 20-25.

Rehearsals are now well under way for the show, which is something of a departure from the more traditional musicals that the society performs.

It is based on the original story by Simon Beaufoy of a group of unemployed steel workers who, down on their luck, hit upon the idea of a Chippendales-style show.

Realising there’s serious money to be made, the six amateurs bundle their way through rehearsals, trying to deal with personal issues while coming to terms with the fact they will need to go the ‘full monty’ to make the show worthwhile.

Show spokeswoman Heather Taylor said: “The men really do go all the way regarding the full monty!

“We have set all the dialogue in the show and are well under way with setting the routines. The strip has been set this week so we can get lots of practise in on that special routine!”

Tickets, priced £10-£15, are on sale now for people aged 16 and over. Call 01270 537333 or visit www.lyceumtheatre.net.
