Sheffield band The Crookes to play The Box in Crewe

THE Crookes headline The Box, Crewe, as they embark on a major UK tour to coincide with the release of their highly praised debut album, Chasing After Ghosts.

It’s an album that sees Sheffield’s finest deliver on their early promise in 11 brilliantly lyrical tracks that form a bedroom symphony for a new generation of sensitive souls.

In their short career so far The Crookes have released a seven- track EP, Fierce Panda, played the Reading and Leeds festivals and collaborated with local hero Richard Hawley for Steve Lamacq and Jo Whiley’s Evening Session special.

The Crookes are four young hopefuls who found each other, bleary-eyed and dancing alone, at Sheffield’s legendary Fuzz Club.

United initially by a mutual love of the Violent Femmes song Blister In The Sun, they formed the band there and then.

Support at Saturday’s gig comes from Nantwich band The Lockdown, Violet Omen and Dimension.

Tickets are £5. For more details, visit www.theboxcrewe.co.uk.
