Music Spotlight: New indie rock outfit Dimension get into their stride

New indie rock outfit Dimension are on the scene and loving it.

The Crewe-based trio have quickly emerged as one to watch after a couple of explosive shows at the area’s most prominent venues.

About 200 were chanting their name during a stellar set at their last appearance at The Box a couple of months ago.

So it’s all good for long-time friends Ryan Minshull (vocals/bass), Stephen McGuire (vocals/guitar) and Jack Goring (drums).

Influenced by the likes of Wolfmother, Foo Fighters and one-time Crewe visitors Feeder, Dimension have already established themselves as a quality live act.

“We’re all loving the gigs – it’s been great so far,” explained Ryan.

“We played The Sugarmill earlier this month and we’re due to go to Manchester Club Academy in May so we’re getting around.”

Joining a band came out of the blue for the South Cheshire College student.

“We’ve been mates since primary school but I lived abroad for a while and only got back in September,” he added.

“Steve said ‘how do you fancy forming a band’ and we just went from there.

“I’ve only been playing guitar for a year and took up bass when we started the band so it’s a bit mad.

“I’d say we were indie rock, we’re all into the same music more or less.

“Influences are Wolfmother, Feeder and Foo Fighters with a hint of AC/DC and Zeppelin – the old legends are always the best.”

Dimension return to The Box on a massive Easter Saturday special on April 23.

Sheffield’s finest, The Crookes headline Crewe’s alternative music venue as part of their major UK tour to promote eagerly-awaited debut Chasing After Ghosts.

Nantwich indie favourites The Lockdown also return along with Wrexham outfit Violet Omen.

“I’ve had a listen to The Crookes and I think they sound decent,” continued Ryan. “Steve really likes them, he’s been to see them before and we all can’t wait.

“It’s great to have a venue like The Box on your doorstep and be able to get all your friends there.

“We love it there, especially the last gig – it was insane.”

Doors open from 8pm and tickets are £5.
