Some of the biggest names in pop and rock will descend on Cheshire this summer for the Chester Rocks festival.
The event, to be held at Chester Racecourse – the Roodee – during the weekend of July 2-3, will feature artists ranging from punk legend Iggy Pop to pop superstar Taio Cruz.
Other big names include McFly, The Saturdays, Sugababes, Eliza Doolittle and The Wanted.
And extra stars have just been added to bill, including Feeder, Leftfield, The Australian Pink Floyd Show, I Am Kloot and Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder.
Organisers say it will be the biggest music festival Chester has ever staged.
Chester Race Company Ltd chief executive Richard Thomas said: “Chester Rocks is shaping up to be one of the main events in the North West this summer. Everybody at the racecourse is very excited to be hosting the first year of the two-day festival.
“The line-up for the two days has really got something for everyone from McFly and The Wanted through to the godfather of punk – Iggy Pop. Š
“The festival will be an important addition to the city’s events calendar for 2011 and will bring about 40,000 people into Chester across the weekend with many of them staying in the city overnight, shopping and visiting local restaurants.”
Saturday’s full line-up currently consists of Taio Cruz, McFly, The Saturdays, Sugababes, The Wanted, Eliza Doolittle, The Christians and Stephen Langstaff.
On the Sunday the bill includes Iggy Pop and The Stooges, The Australian Pink Floyd Show, Echo and The Bunnymen, I Am Kloot, Shaun Ryder, Lightning Seeds, Tommy Scott and the Red Scare, Feeder and Leftfield.
Tickets are £47.50 on Saturday and Sunday or £85 for both days. They are available now by visiting www.chester-rocks.co.uk or by calling 01244 304 610.
